Dr. Arthur Williams is a Sports & Family Medicine Specialist registered with the Health Professional Board of South Africa.
He graduated in 1999 from the University of Stellenbosch with his Medical Degree and Masters Degree in Family Medicine. In 2004 he graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine.
Arthur then worked as a Sports Medicine Physician in Queensland Australia and Cape Town South Africa. He mainly worked with professional rugby teams. Part of his role as a sports medicine doctor included traveling with professional teams to their international sporting events whether in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Argentina or Europe and acting as an on-field practitioner.
During the last 12 years he gained significant experience in his trade whilst working with elite and professional athletes.
He also practiced his trade and experience with semi-professional and college athletes during a crucial period in their build up to their careers in sports.
From Dr. Arthur’s personal experience, he realized that working in a team environment is essential in developing a professional sports team, thus he integrates his care with other specialists like orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, chiropractors, strength & conditioning trainers, dietitians, psychologists, sport scientists and coaches.
As Medical Doctor at international events and tournaments (Super Rugby, HSBC Sevens Rugby, World Cup Junior and Women Rugby, Cricket World Cup) he also provides with extensive experience in emergency medical care at international sport events.
In 2009 Arthur completed his 3-year course in Muscuskuloskeletal ultrasound which allows him to finalize pathology and injury via diagnostic ultrasound, during a consultation visit.
Arthur fine-tuned the art of regenerative medicine with Platelet Rich Plasma injections for a wide range of musckuloskeletal injuries.
In 2016, Dr. Arthur joined DISC to expand the scope of the clinic practice and the facilities offered.
