Originally from Greece, Ioannis graduated in 2007 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Thessaly. After graduation he completed the compulsory 1-year military service, where he trained as a combat paramedic and a tank driver. He started his career as a musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapist in a clinic responsible for the treatment of the Olympiacos Professional Volleyball team and the Women’s National Volleyball teams. He spent 3 years at the clinic whilst also working as a physiotherapist for a football team for 1 season.
To follow his dream and develop his passion for sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy further, Ioannis moved to the UK in 2011 to attend a MSc in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy at Cardiff University and completed it with a research project on patella-femoral (knee) pain.
He then moved to London and worked as a MSK Physiotherapist in a private practice; meanwhile he continued his learning by completing several post graduate courses in manual therapy, spinal and joint manipulations, Acupuncture/Dry needling, clinical pilates, hydrotherapy, taping and sports massage.
Focused on his dream to work for a professional football club, in 2013, he started to work at Chelsea Football club as an academy physiotherapist; followed by the role of Women’s professional team physiotherapist in 2018. He worked for 2 successful seasons, where the team reached the semi-finals of the European Champions league twice and won the domestic double in 2017-2018.
Ioannis has worked as a sports physiotherapist, treating elite level athletes, in major sporting events such as the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Baku 2015 European Games, Ashgabat 2017 Asian Games and the London 2017 World Athletics Championships.
His approach is to see and treat every patient as an elite level athlete that wants to return quickly and safely to their optimal performance with minimal risk of re-injury.
In his spare time he likes to exercise, play tennis, surf and travel.
